The Show:
The Seven Heavenly Virtues is a twelve part series of mini-episodes involving seven angels who have come to earth to find the Messiah candidate – the man who will fight against Satan and save mankind. These busty beauties represent (you guessed it) the seven virtues… except they really don’t. As far as I can tell, they generally just represent the various over sexualized body types who’s sole purpose is to find ways to get their breasts out. So, go into this expecting a very story light exercise in anime titillation.
I’m not entirely sure who this is for, because the premise could have been interesting with some development, but instead all hopes at a story were dropped in favor of extremely short vignettes of angels trying to train and please the Messiah candidate. Oh well. If you want some anime boobs intermixed with some actually quite stunning visual frames, maybe pick this up?
PQ/AQ:
This series was obviously never meant to truly excel at anything. With the short run times of each episode, the lack of an overarching storyline, and too much a focus on breasts, you would expect (and have your expectations met) less than noteworthy animation. It is perfectly watchable, but but the artstyle doesn’t really stand out.
However, there are several moments scattered out in the series that are genuinely quite stunning. These generally make use of a very wide color palette and some form of angelic beauty (there are actually some scenes of the angels without their breasts covering half of the screen it turns out).
The audio is serviceable, but not a main draw to this series. There are a few action scenes with satisfying bass and a good explosion or two, but for the most part, you will be listening to the various moans, groans, and giggles that you might expect.
Special Features:
This release is feature light, they would say. But then again, I don’t really know if there’s much else that would be here either:
- Clean Closing Animations
- Trailers of other Sentai Filmworks releases
Packaging
While not outright pornographic, this release features some quite risque artwork, including a censor bar (hilariously).
Other Releases:
- None
Our Recommendation for The Seven Heavenly Virtues:
This series is….something. It’s really quite color rich and can be funny at times, but the lack of runtime and plot are disappointing. Anime boob lovers will rejoice, but this is most likely a skip for everyone else. The Blu-ray is out October 16th!
