Welcome to another Fund it Friday, which means another delve into the world of crowdfunding here at The Nerd Mentality!
This week, we found a rather charming looking game in the works called Transmission. As described on the games website, Transmission is a hand painted action-adventure game that blends tactical combat, vast exploration, and intricate puzzle solving, along with a rich narrative in the realm of great science fiction cinema.
While this all sounds like a lofty goal to accomplish, based on the video they have on their Kickstarter page, they are well on their way. Also, let me say this up front: this is a beautiful looking game, with a soundtrack to match, and I’m not the only one to notice There are quotes from other sources such as Kotaku on the KS page with similar praises. You gotta see this to believe it.
The story is fairly simple – you’ve crashed onto a mysterious planet with no recollection of how you got there. It’s up to you to explore your environment and find out where you are and what to do next. It’s something that has been done before, but definitely not like this. Featuring stunning hand painted and stylish art, I can tell already that I’ll be drawn into exploring everything in this world that there is to see. Similarly, the soundtrack is amazing and pleasant (there is a sample on the Kickstarter page).
There are a lot of good details that go in-depth regarding gameplay mechanics on their campaign page, so if you’re interested in the nuts and bolts be sure to check it out. The team, called Paper Unicorn, is based out of Los Angeles, CA and is asking for $84,000 to fund this project. Currently, they have 20 days to go and are about a quarter of the way funded. So if are as interested in this game as I am, go grab that wallet and click this link.
Backer rewards start at the $12 level, which grant you a DRM free copy of the game (available on PC, Linux, and Mac), and go up to $450, which lets you design your own enemy!
