Hello readers! We’ve navigated another holiday season. It’s that time of year where we hide from the foul winter hellscape and take stock of what we have gained (and enjoyed the company of our fellows, I suppose). Here’s a list of some of the cool nerdy things we received this winter!
My family and friends were too kind this year. Among the wonderful gifts received were many board games (including Netrunner and Deadlands: Doomtown with all expansions), several (several several) titles on Steam (looking forward to an Undertale playthrough!), as well as a Jurassic World on BluRay and a shiny new Nvidia Shield tablet. The big gift, however, was a surprise: a Law & Order inspired Daredevil T-shirt that I thought was long out of print. What a haul! If anyone needs me, I’ll be hiding in my gaming den until the thaw, when I will awaken from my geeky hibernation. Huzzah!
For Nerdmas I received some pretty cool stuff. A new gaming headset, a super cool Doctor Who water bottle and the complete Harry Potter blu-ray collection. I did get two smaller gifts that are pretty cool, but how they were wrapped was the best part. Two Funko Mini Fallout blind boxes wrapped in custom made boxes with Vault Tech logo! They are now a permanent part of my Fallout shrine…errr display.
I, too, have had a wonderful holiday season. Not only did I host family at my house for Christmas for the first time, it was also my daughter’s first Christmas as well! Evelyn Luna received an overwhelming number of presents from the grandparents, so I was surprised at how many items were under the tree with my name on them.
I received several Criterion blu-ray, one of Graham Hancock’s books, and some great Star Wars items for our themed bathroom (Storm Trooper trash can, Vader soap dispense, some amazing art for the wall, and an original trilogy shower curtain). But by far the best gift I got this year was my wife and best friends banding together to help kick start the Mystery Science Theater 3000 season. They outdid themselves and put up enough for me to get the blu-ray box set, which will be a favorite in my collection for sure.
It was a good year.
This season was a good year for gaming. Our Dungeons and Dragons party may have a new member and I found my favorite kind of enjoyment (the unexpected kind) in two specific games. Super Mario Maker for the WiiU has surprised me with some really fun concepts, and Crypts of the Necrodancer was given to me on Steam (Thanks to the lovely Parasaur). The secret prize hidden there is now you know what I will likely be writing about in the next few weeks. We also got free tickets to see Star Wars VII, which was a wild ride. We are sufficiently hyped for the rest of the trilogy.
