It’s been a long hard road for Nintendo since the release of the WiiU. Sales numbers were not high and the company suffered a moral blow at the loss of Satoru Iwata in July 2015. But there have been glimmers of hope with the much awaited Zelda: Breath of The Wild taking center stage for Nintendo at this year’s E3, and rumors abound about the newest hardware codenamed the NX.
Yesterday, many gamers and Nintendo fans who happened to be scrolling through Twitter would have seen the tweet below from Nintendo of America.

The glimmer of hope for Nintendo was about to get a bit brighter. The world finally gets to see what the NX really is – it was time for a switch.
The NX is no more. Welcome the Nintendo Switch. You can see the roughly three minute video below. It highlights one of the major features to be rumored about the console: its portability. Surprisingly, it still appears to sport the shape of the WiiU, but with a slick new controller that has the ability to click into the sides of the now more tablet like body of the console.
This is the initial look, and comes as a bit of a surprise. There are no big press events like E3 to show off the new console, and with a release window of March 2017, that gives consumers five months to decide if the Switch will be going home with them.
Available on Nintendo’s site, or the cool graphic below, and through some thoughts in the Twitter-sphere, 3rd party support appears to be coming to the new console.
It looks like the time for switch is here and hopefully in the coming months, Nintendo will make us all want to do so.
Like the name of the console? Hate it? Have reservations? Trying to throw money at the screen? Feel free to sound off!
As more information is released about the Nintendo Switch, be sure to come back as there will be much more to cover!
