Join us in the great white north of Ontario, Canada as we take on the shiny new early access 10+1 player Battle Royal from Scavengers Studio the Darwin Project! Seemingly developed from the ground up to support Twitch viewer integration. This injects a bit of interactivity in the game community for people not able to play and add an element of randomness to games for each player.
The Darwin Project features battle royal style gameplay in a rustic themed forest arena filled with snow and a touch of futuristic tech scattered around the map to be used for upgrades, tracking events during the match and keeping
prisoners competitors locked inside. 10 players scour the maps for supplies and materials to craft survival items like fur cloaks, upgrades for their axe and bow, and special items to give them an edge in combat like speed boots.
To mix things up from what is slowly becoming a crowded genre an 11th player assumes the role of director and is able to manipulate elements of the matches by healing players, closing off map zones, or even dropping deadly nukes on them. These abilities are gained over time and a power meter slowly fills as the match progresses. Interacting with each player and moving them towards each other through your available abilities is not only encouraged but can be exhilarating at times. Check out the extended gameplay session I had to get my live thoughts on the game and see some silly interactions to be had with other players.
