Witches, warriors and plumbers, Oh my!
Today was the day of the release of Bayonetta and Corrin for Super Smash Bros. Wii U and I’ve got to say, they’re pretty flashy.
Bayonetta was the character I picked up and played first as I am a huge fan of the Bayonetta series. She stays true to the games in this everybody-in-one-game fighting mosh pit of characters. She is just as sleek in Smash Bros as she is in her original series and her moves stay true to the combat style of said games. Her style is that of a combo fighter in the sense that a lot of her normal attacks have a sequence of multi-hit moves built in. Bayonetta also uses her guns in the best fashion, exactly like she did in her own series. Whenever you use a move during a fight, just hold down the attack button and you extend the move to her striking a slick pose while firing her guns from either her feet or the ones in her hands depending on if the attack came from high or low. Bayonetta was a surprising but great addition to the roster of many and I am very excited to continue using her.
Corrin is a name not many have heard before. She is the main character in Fire Emblem: Fates; the latest in the Fire Emblem series from Intelligent Systems and Nintendo. He/She is all based about his/her interesting weapon, the chainsaw blade, and his/her transformation into a dragon-unicorn hybrid (crazy, I know). She seems to be quick with her blade and her transformations are definitely something to at least see during a fight. One special move of note is that when charging up forward smash, Corrin holds the chainsaw blade out in front, sawing at the enemy, and when he/she is done charging, the following strike results in transforming their arm and weapon into a lance.
These two characters being added into the game was a surprise to a lot of people. They are by no means a throw in, and I’m sure they will be liked by many people all across the board.
