The Lobster (2015)
In the far-off land of 2015, the modern master of odd premises, Yorgos Lanthimos, created a film called The Lobster. Colin Farrell stars as David, a single man who has 45 days to find a partner at The Hotel or he will be transformed into an animal of his choosing. The film also stars Olivia Colman, John C. Reilly, Rachel Weisz and Ben Whishaw (who sadly does not appear as Paddington).
Join Alex and Garrett this week as they both saw this for the first time for the Digital Drive-In Podcast. They discuss the unique aspects of the story and the interesting way dialogue is approached. They also mention the theme of relationships and how it is carried through the film and what meanings they got out of it. Did they love the film or is it too weird for its own good? You’ll just have to tune it to this weeks episode to find out for sure.
Welcome to the start of a new season of the Digital Drive-In Podcast! This season we’ve got lots of fun stuff planned, including some special non-numbered episodes on non-films and some special guests! There’s also a new game to be played each episode… how long does it take for Garrett to mention David Lynch and/or Twin Peaks? Answer: not long. Ever!
