The Mummy (1999)
What’s that? You want more adventure films about archaeology? Well, you are in luck! This week, we are talking about the 1999 flick The Mummy, and Alex and Garrett take a trek into the Egyptian desert to find the ancient city of Hamunaptra. With our boots full of sand, our packs full of gold, and our heads full of brain-eating bugs we break down just what is so darn fun about this adventure/horror flick.
The Mummy stars Brendan Fraser, Rachel Weisz, John Hannah, Arnold Vosloo and many other recognizable co-stars. The film is written and directed by Stephen Sommers, who is also known for Deep Rising, Van Helsing, and G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra. Almost 20 years later does the film still hold up? The guys also talk about the state of modern blockbusters and how these kinds of films are really not made anymore. If you want to know the whole story you’ll just have to tune in and find out on the Digital Drive-In Podcast!
Welcome to the start of a new season of the Digital Drive-In Podcast! This season we’ve got lots of fun stuff planned, including some special non-numbered episodes on non-films and some special guests! There’s also a new game to be played each episode… how long does it take for Garrett to mention David Lynch and/or Twin Peaks? Answer: not long. Ever!
