The Great Silence (1968) – If you read our theatrical post each week, then you know that Film Movement was already screening their new restoration in select theaters. Film Movement will celebrate the 50th anniversary of director Sergio Corbucci’s classic western The Great Silence (1968) with a new Blu-ray edition of the film which will be available for purchase on June 5th.
Synopsis: On an unforgiving, snow-swept frontier, a group of bloodthirsty bounty hunters, led by the vicious Loco (Klaus Kinski, Nosferatu the Vampyre) prey on a band of persecuted outlaws who have taken to the hills. As the price on each head is collected one-by-one, only a mute gunslinger named Silence (Jean-Louis Trintignant, The Conformist) stands between the innocent refugees and the greed and corruption that the bounty hunters represent. But, in this harsh, brutal world, the lines between right and wrong aren’t always clear and good doesn’t always triumph.
Featuring superb photography and a haunting score from maestro Ennio Morricone, director Sergio Corbucci’s (Django, Companeros) bleak, brilliant and violent vision of an immoral, honorless west is widely considered to be among the very best and most influential Euro-Westerns ever made.

Zipping around Los Angeles on her Vespa and living a shaggy, freewheeling existence of her own design, Senna marks her 46th birthday as she has many others: Talking to her loving-but-concerned mom Celia (Ellen Burstyn), hanging out with her pal Darla (Liza Lapira), and hoping to make a sale with boutique store owner Vanessa (Famke Janssen), who thinks Senna’s handbag fashions aren’t working. As each year brings another birthday, Senna re-evaluates her life – and reconsiders dating Adam (Tony Goldwyn), the transplanted Boston lawyer Darla once set her up with.
